UK-based reggae/dancehall artiste Lappaleng recently released his debut EP titled Lappaleng The Mobay Giant.
“This project is a culmination of all the years I’ve dedicated to the development of my craft as a deejay. It’s a celebration of all that I’ve experienced and achieved since those early days when I began my career in Montego Bay. Through hard work and determination, I became the top deejay in the city before I migrated to the UK in 1990,” said the artiste.
He continued, “Since I moved to the UK, I have been working hard to establish myself as a top dancehall act in England. The work that I have been doing is paying off slowly but surely; my fan base is growing steadily, and all I have to do is keep working. I am also confident that this EP will help to move my career to a higher level.”
The seven-track project, which was produced by the artiste for his Lappaleng Records imprint, was released on March 22.
Some of the songs featured on the EP are the lead single Pray, Keep on Rolling, History and Bad Gyal Whine.
“My EP features various genres, including dancehall, reggae, soul and Gospel. I produced it this way because I want to make a worldwide impact with the project. It has something for everyone,” he said.
The Mobay-born deejay who resides in England believes that the project will be a success.
“I do not doubt that this EP is going to be a success; it’s only been out a week now, and I am getting a lot of great feedback about it. Some of the tracks are getting good rotation in the UK, the States, Africa, Europe, Jamaica and other parts of the Caribbean,” said Lappaleng.
