International recording artiste Samora has had a lifelong affinity with reggae and dancehall music.
“I love all kinds of music, but reggae and dancehall have always been two of my favourites. Since I was a child,d I've felt this deep connection with both genres, which is why I record a lot of reggae and dancehall fusion songs,” said the Switzerland-based Pop star.
Samora recently teamed up with fast-rising Jamaican dancehall artiste Yeza to record a hot new single, Mind No More.
“Yeza and I recorded this song to encourage people to let go of their worries and celebrate life. We all know that the world is full of trouble and drama, but we can’t let that drag us down and stop us from living and enjoying ourselves.”
Produced by Ludovic Hoarau and Res Staudenmann, Mind No More was released on April 4.
Since then, the song has hit the number one position on the Swiss iTunes Reggae Charts.
“I’m so excited about everything that’s happening right now, I still can’t believe that Mind No More reached all the way to number one in Switzerland so quickly. We’ve been doing a lot of promotion, so it’s getting great support from the DJs. However, I was shocked when I found out that it hit the number one position on the charts,” she said.
The song, which is best described as a rousing mix of reggae, dancehall, and modern pop, has also registered on the US iTunes Reggae Charts, where it peaked at 19.
“The US is one of the most significant music markets in the world, so as you can imagine, I’m very happy that Mind No More is making a strong impact over there as well,” said Samora.
The video for Mind No More is doing well too; it recently peaked at number one on the US iTunes Reggae Videos Charts.
The song is also enjoying rotation on several Jamaican radio stations.
Some of Samora’s other chart hits are You Give Me Love with Natty King, Thinking Of You with Chuck Fenda, Children with Turbulence and Woman with Tamika.
The Suriname-born singer is currently working on an album that she plans to release later this year.
She’s also looking forward to a busy year on the road as she is booked for several events in Europe and Canada.
