UK-based dancehall artiste Major Grumpy is enjoying one of the best periods of his music career since the release of his latest single, Am Not Rich.
“This song is about the way most people are living in the world today, working 9-5 or hustling and still can’t afford anything. To achieve the things you want in life, you have to understand who you are and what you want to achieve and work wisely,” said the artiste.
The song, which was produced by the Jamaican-born deejay was released on his MG Productions imprint last November. Since then, it has been added to the playlists of several DJs worldwide.
“I am very happy with the response that my song is receiving. I am grateful to all the DJs playing it in the UK, Jamaica, the US, Europe, Africa and other parts of the world,” said Major Grumpy.
The award-winning deejay, born Orville Dennis, acknowledged that the musical landscape in Jamaica has shifted significantly since he launched his career in the 1990s.
However, he believes the response to his new single shows that he is still in the game.
“I know that my style and my kind of songs are still relevant today because people always show me a lot of love when I perform in the UK, Europe, South America, and the Caribbean. The reception to my new single also shows that I am still capable of producing songs relevant to the times,” he said.
Major Grumpy is currently working on his 13th studio album. The unnamed project is set to be released later this year.
