Dancehall deejay Kashu says he is ready to dominate the industry following a successful 2024 in music.

The hard-hitting lyricist, who won the now-defunct Reggae Trail talent competition in 2003, gained traction during spring following the release of Who Do Dah Body Deh and Mek Good, songs that were produced by US-based producer DJ RoH and released earlier this year.

“Especially ‘Do Duh Body Deh’, from mi born mi never get so much love for a song. Right now in Africa, St Maarten, and here in America, the song is one of the hottest dancehall tracks,” a jubilant Kashu, born Daren Williams, said.

The songs have also been getting heavy rotations on several local radio stations, prompting Kashu, who is also a fashion designer, to look ahead with great optimism.

“I am looking to shoot a music video for ‘Mek Good’, it is a sequel to ‘Who Duh Dah Body Deh’ and the vibes surrounding both songs are good. Right now I am focused on next year, to ensure I can continue this momentum,” said the former Vere Technical High School student.

The father of four also shared that he is gearing up to release a new track entitled ‘Push It Out’, which was produced jointly by his Music + Fashion label and Top Lane Records.

“That song will be released in early 2025. They say don’t change the formula if it is working so I aim to continue delivering songs for the ladies because this year was a very good one for me musically speaking,” Kashu said.

The deejay, who hails from Toll Gate in May Pen, Clarendon, recently performed at an event with Malie Donn & Frenz in Hartford, Connecticut, USA.

He also delivered a memorable performance at Everton Blender’s birthday.

“What I bring to the stage is energy and clarity so anywhere I go it always affi mash up,” the deejay said, three weeks after delivering a strong performance at the veteran reggae singer's 70th birthday celebration in Florida.

Kashu is also known for the singles ‘Master Time’ and ‘God Alone’.
